On 6 October, the Ho Chi Minh City Public Passenger Transport Management and Operation Centre said it planned to organise a programme to hand-deliver free bus cards to wounded soldiers, sick soldiers and people with disabilities in Ho Chi Minh City.
Specifically, the programme will run continuously for 2 years (2017 and 2018), providing free bus cards to disadvantaged people who are wounded soldiers, sick soldiers and people with disabilities in the city’s 24 districts.
According to the centre, the purpose of issuing free bus cards is to ease the difficulties of getting around for wounded soldiers, sick soldiers and people with disabilities, and to make it easier for wounded soldiers, sick soldiers and people with disabilities across the city to access the public passenger transport system.
Through the programme’s practical activities, the centre will continue to step up publicity work, encouraging people to respond and use public transport, helping to reduce traffic congestion, traffic accidents, protect the environment and the urban landscape, and develop the public transport system.
Earlier, the centre organised the presentation of 42 free bus cards to wounded and sick soldiers in Tan Thong Hoi commune, Cu Chi district. These cards are valid indefinitely and can be used on all subsidised bus routes in the city./.
