Nick Vujicic has returned to Vietnam at the end of May, just as he promised a year ago. Only this time he was unable to bring his wife and son to Vietnam as promised. In return, travelling with Nick this time are his parents and his younger sister.

1. Nick is known around the world as an extremely famous man born without arms or legs, who has overcome his own impairments to become an inspiration to many people, from students to business people, from people with physical disabilities to people with disabilities of the soul. Yet people are also surprised by his family life, when he married a beautiful wife and his son is already over one year old.
Speaking about his role as a father, Nick Vujicic affirmed: “I want my son to have a good father rather than to be sent to a good university. Why? With the progress of the times and money, people can create a good education, but money cannot buy a father.” Nick told the story of how, as a child, he knew his parents were very lonely and hurt because of their child with a disability. But Nick Vujicic confided that, thanks to love, his parents overcame it all and gave him strength. “Many times I have to work very hard. But my family always shares things. Everyone has extremely hard periods at work. But do not forget that you are also fathers and mothers. Do not neglect your family just because of work. I want my son to have a good father rather than a good school. Money cannot buy a good father”, Nick stressed.
2. At a meeting with the public, when asked what his family life and private happiness meant to him, Nick Vujicic did not hide anything: “The way my wife and I met, fell in love and came together shows a family relationship, and is a motivation for other people in similar circumstances to come together. Everyone can love one another in peaceful days, when no difficulties occur, but there are times when life is not as we wish, and then we truly see how important family affection is. We have had happy years together.”
Returning to Vietnam this time, Nick took part in the gala “Shining Vietnamese resilience” in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. “I am excited to be back. Vietnam is in my heart, and I am glad to set foot on this land again. My wife also sends her wishes of happiness to you. This time I am very happy to have my parents with me – the people who gave birth to a special child like me. My younger sister is also here, and she will sing the best songs for me and for you”, Nick said on arriving at the airport, hoping that in a while, when his son is older, he will bring his wife and son to Vietnam. “My wife and son are always carried in my heart”, Nick always knows how to encourage his wife and son, even when far away and in any circumstances.

3. Many people will be surprised to learn that the motivation that made Nick Vujicic an inspiration for the whole world came from his parents: Mr. Boris Vujicic and Mrs. Dushka. “My parents believed that I exist in this world for a purpose. They were always a source of motivation and encouragement for me. My parents did not even know I could write, until I picked up a pen by myself with my two small toes… I saw that my life had motivation and purpose, so I wanted to share it with everyone…”, Nick confided.
Sharing his thoughts on the role of the mother in the family, Nick said sincerely: “What my mother always tried to create for me was a family that was always a warm home. My mother always gave me confidence and comfort when I was with my family.” He added: “As a child, I was often closer to my mother than to my father. Perhaps that is because of the bond between mother and child. And I hope that mothers will always sow good seeds in their children’s souls.” For mothers with children with disabilities, Nick’s message is: always sow in your children the idea that they are truly beautiful and truly wonderful. Even when children do not seem to believe such praise, we must still encourage and praise them, because it is the truth. It is not what we lack that matters, but what we have…
Nick often tells the story that, when he was at school, his classmates teased him a great deal, “which always made me feel I had nothing to be proud of”. But his parents always said not to pay attention or worry about what his friends said. “You are truly wonderful. You may not be able to run, but you are very good at maths; you may not be able to ride a bicycle, but you can swim” – Nick’s parents’ timely words of encouragement fuelled his love of life. That is one of the most wonderful things parents can give their children, whoever they are, rich or poor.
