(Giao duc & Thoi dai) Many people with disabilities will have job opportunities – that is the information given at the press meeting in response to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2013 organised by the Vietnam Federation on Disability (VFD).
In 2013, the United Nations chose as the theme for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (3/12): “Break the barriers, open the doors: for an inclusive society for all”.
The Vietnam Federation on Disability will work with the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and relevant organisations to organise a rally, exchange, exhibition fair and job fair for people with disabilities at the Vietnam Fine Arts Exhibition Centre (No. 2 Hoa Lu, Hanoi) on 30/11.
The exchange day will be attended by leaders of the Party and the State, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Hanoi People's Committee and representatives of international and non-governmental organisations and relevant agencies, departments and organisations, along with about 2,000 people with disabilities.
There will be stalls introducing products and services made by people with disabilities, information desks of organisations of people with disabilities, and a job fair for people with disabilities with 30 employers taking part. The employers will publicly list the quotas and criteria for each job for people with disabilities.
Also in the series of events in response to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, on the evening of 30/11 there will be an art exchange programme entitled “For a world without barriers” and a ceremony to award commemorative medals to international and non-governmental organisations that have made positive contributions and worked alongside the Federation in activities supporting people with disabilities in Vietnam.
| In 2012, 225 people with disabilities attended the job fair organised by VFD. Immediately, 30 people were recruited. Two months later, another 96 people with disabilities found jobs. The main trades were industrial sewing, carpentry, lace embroidery and handicrafts. Many people with disabilities now have stable jobs and good incomes. |
