Kayna Sesser, 23, from the USA, is going beyond traditional standards of beauty by becoming a lingerie model. She hopes she can show everyone that “being different” has its own sex appeal.
The girl from California was determined to rise above her circumstances and began working as a photographic model for sports brands at the age of 15. After posing for a few clothing shops and appearing on the Billabong website, the young girl was sought out by lingerie and bikini fashion brands.
Kayna now works both as a model and as a speaker about her passion for sport. Kayna is also training to take part in the 2016 Paralympics for people with disabilities.
“At first I only posed as a track and field athlete, but as I grew up I started modelling lingerie”, Kayna, who now lives in Los Angeles, said. “It is a very enjoyable job and it helps me tell my own story. I am different and sexy even though I have no legs. I like earning money from this work and letting people see what beauty is like. These photos help me show my own strength”.
The young girl said that at first she never dreamed of becoming a model. “It came to me by chance and gradually I got used to it. I like expressing myself in a way that is different from how people usually see me. I am honest. I never try to be different from other people. This is really who I am”, she said. The job now brings Kayne about 1,000 USD a day.

According to the New York Daily News, Kayne was adopted by an American couple from an orphanage in Thailand when she was just five years old and moved to live with this family in Portland, Oregon.
Instead of using a wheelchair, Kayne usually uses a skateboard to get around and practises walking on her hands. She loves adventure sports and hopes to compete in snowboarding at the Winter Paralympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, in 2018.
One of Kayne’s most enthusiastic fans is Brian, her boyfriend. The two have only been dating for a month.
“Brian is wonderful; he supports everything I do”, she said. “Recently he saw me modelling for the first time and said I looked so beautiful and unique”.
Although she works as a model, Kayne admits she prefers her natural look without make-up. She is now also writing a book about the incredible journey she has been through. The book is expected to be published next year.
