Fashion today spends much time celebrating the special bodies of models with disabilities.
When the glamorous, luxurious fashion world, with its frivolous appearance and harsh body standards, has been overthrown so that people can come closer together. To talk together, to confide about a different, compassionate kind of beauty.
Modern fashion has opened the inner door to real life, together with its devoted followers. Fashion has given wings to the noble souls and indomitable will of models with disabilities. People who work miracles, rising above a cruel fate.
They have a part of their body missing; they have lost a leg, some no longer have a complete pair of arms, and some can no longer see the outside world. Although they do not have a “perfect” body like other models on the fashion runway in Viet Nam in particular and the world in general, they are still regarded as rare treasures of the fashion world.
Para Games track and field athlete Nguyen Thi Thuy
Athlete Nguyen Thi Thuy was born in 1964 in Hanoi; at the age of 18, she suffered great misfortunes in her life and lost her left leg. But she did not give in to fate.
Standing up on faith, dreams and hope to continue the pages still unfinished, she joined the “Vietnamese track and field team for people with disabilities”. With 17 international gold medals, she has constantly broken her own records and was awarded the third-class Labour Order by the State in 2005 & 2014.
She has appeared as a model in the prestigious publication of the Vietnam News Agency.

Supermodel Aimee Mullin
One of the most highly rated models with a disability, with the title of “supermodel”, with amputated legs. A congenital leg defect meant she had both legs amputated when she was still a little girl. But that loss became the motivation driving her on, to become a world-record athlete in the 100m, 200m and long jump.
With her sporting achievements, she was honoured as one of the greatest women in the world in the 20th century. Beyond her celebrated career, Aimee Mullin was also chosen by the great designer Alexander McQueen as his muse, becoming the closing model of his Spring-Summer 1999 show.
She has also appeared continuously in prestigious fashion publications such as Vogue, ELLE, Harper’s Bazaar…

Knox’s modelling career began when she won the British reality TV search for a model with a disability in 2008, a dream that surprised even herself, and she was then chosen by the great designer Alexander McQueen for an advertising campaign for his haute couture line.

At the age of 14, Amanda was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa and her eyesight declined considerably, but that did not stop the blue-eyed girl’s dream of becoming a model.
