Police came to people's homes to process new and replacement identity cards for elderly people and people with disabilities, especially ethnic minority people in the mountainous district of Nam Dong (Thua Thien – Hue).
Nam Dong is a remote mountainous district with a population of more than 26,000, of whom more than 43% are ethnic minority people, mostly Co Tu people. To make things easier for residents, the leadership of the Nam Dong District Police (Thua Thien – Hue) recently reviewed citizens who are elderly people and people with disabilities unable to travel, to compile a specific list. They then came to people's homes to issue identity cards.
In addition, the district police arranged working teams to go down to local communities to guide people through the paperwork and to issue new and replacement identity cards, quickly, conveniently and in accordance with the law.
Mr Le Thanh Y, living in A Tin village, Thuong Nhat commune, Nam Dong district, happily said: “Here, most people are elderly and often ill. Thanks to the Party's care, today the district police enthusiastically came to our homes to make identity cards for us, so that we can travel more easily, our children and grandchildren can study better, and we can borrow money to do business. We are very happy and delighted at this meaningful work.”
Issuing new and replacement identity cards in these special cases aims to meet people's urgent need to legalise their personal papers for health insurance, social insurance procedures and to enjoy a number of citizens' benefits under the law. Many people, when their identity cards were made at home, were surprised by this new way of working by the district police.
Promoting the issuing of identity cards to residents through a “mobile” service that reaches people's homes is a good way of working, and has won the agreement and praise of local people.
The spirit, responsibility and wholehearted service to the people of each officer and soldier of the Administrative Management Police Team for Social Order of the Nam Dong District Police have left a good impression and warm feelings among local people.
Speaking to a reporter, Lieutenant Colonel Phan Gia Nam, Deputy Chief of the Nam Dong District Police, said: “The district police coming to people's homes to process new and replacement identity cards for elderly people and people with disabilities, especially ethnic minority people, is not new work, but it is work that has received a positive response from the people.”
“This is not only a deeply humane act, but also contributes positively to simplifying administrative procedures and ensuring security and order, as well as enhancing the image of police officers in the hearts of the people,” Lieutenant Colonel Phan Gia Nam shared.
