Over two days, 22 and 23 October, at Nguyen Van Troi Primary School (District 4), a thematic workshop on “Inclusive education for children with autism” for managers and teachers of primary schools in Ho Chi Minh City took place. The activity was organised by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training in coordination with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
The workshop focused on early detection and intervention for children with autism, professional preparation, and how to organise and manage classes in schools receiving children for inclusion. At the workshop, a number of other educational issues were also discussed, such as whether left-handed children should be taught to write with their right hand, at what age pupils should start being taught the habit of using money, and the role of and coordination between schools and families in correcting children's pronunciation problems.
