This is an annual activity organised by DP Hanoi to meet and exchange with the families of the association's staff, honouring family values and expressing gratitude to those who have always stood by, supported and helped their partners in the association's work for the equality and inclusion of people with disabilities.

Hundreds of delegates joined the celebration, singing together and sharing their feelings about the work their loved ones are pursuing.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Duong Thi Van – chairwoman of the Hanoi Association of People with Disabilities – said: “Over many years, DP Hanoi has become a family home with a growing membership. The association has supported people with disabilities in many areas of life, including job creation, loans, literacy classes and more…”

Those attending the ceremony were moved to hear the songs and heartfelt confessions of the relatives of people with disabilities, and of people with disabilities themselves.

The emotional journey from “utterly incomprehensible” to understanding, and the earnest wish to accompany their life partners in helping others in similar disadvantaged circumstances, all conveyed a meaningful message on Vietnamese Family Day – “Family happiness is the blessing of society – Happiness is sharing”.

On behalf of DP Hanoi, Ms. Duong Thi Van thanked the wives, husbands and families of people with disabilities who have always empathised, understood and accompanied the association and their loved ones in social work and in life, so that those who voluntarily “serve the community at their own expense” can devote themselves wholeheartedly to this deeply humane and meaningful work.
