Hanoi trials low-floor buses for people with disabilities

On 7 November, the Hanoi Transport Corporation (Transerco) put into trial operation 15 new buses built to European standards on bus route 03, linking two of Hanoi's largest bus stations, Giap Bat – Gia Lam.

The new buses have a separate cabin for the driver, three LED electronic information boards, free wifi, a modern GPS management software system, and on-board announcements edited and updated to be convenient, concise, easy to follow and to identify locations, and friendlier to passengers.
Notably, this is Hanoi's first bus route to use low-floor buses, whose floors can be raised and lowered to make it easier for passengers with disabilities to board. The buses are also fitted with automatic gearboxes and engines meeting European emission standards.
Transerco expects to replace a further 17 buses by the end of 2017, bringing the total number of new buses invested in this year to more than 20% of its fleet.
