Gia Lai calls for maximum mobilisation of children with disabilities into inclusive education
Education and Times – The Gia Lai Department of Education and Training has issued guidance on implementing inclusive education for students with disabilities at pre-school and primary level in the 2016-2017 school year.
According to this document, the Department of Education and Training requires units to count and report accurately the number of students with disabilities taking part in inclusive education at pre-school and primary education institutions; any unit that reports inaccurately will bear full responsibility when the Department carries out on-site inspections.
Education institutions should have a firm grasp of the number of children with disabilities in their area, mobilise the maximum number of children with disabilities into inclusive education, and increase opportunities for children with disabilities to access education in accordance with the Law on Persons with Disabilities and legal documents on inclusive education for students with disabilities.
Coordinate with local authorities to prepare complete and proper records for students with disabilities. Carry out inclusive education for students with disabilities in accordance with the guiding documents of the Ministry of Education and Training, direct teachers to implement individual education plans suited to each student with a disability, and store records of students with disabilities as prescribed.
The Department of Education and Training also requires the Departments of Education and Training to report on the implementation of inclusive education for students with disabilities, including the current state of inclusive education, the advantages and difficulties encountered during implementation, and proposals and recommendations on establishing a centre to support inclusive education development in Gia Lai Province.
