Charitable gifts will bring useful wheelchairs, nutritious meals, scholarships to go to school, and healing medicines to people with disabilities.
That is the meaning of the special programme called “Businesspeople Walking Together in Love Festival” organised for the first time on a large scale by the Southern Branch of the Businesspeople Cultural Centre in coordination with “Fund for Children with Disabilities” on Vietnamese Businesspeople’s Day, 13 October.
Mr. Le Thanh, head of the programme’s organising committee, said this is the first event in a series of events leading up to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December, collectively called “Walking Together in Love” with people with disabilities.
Businesspeople across the country will walk together in love with people with disabilities by responding to the call for each business to set aside a day’s salary to support people with disabilities. The programme began on 10 October 2013 with the image of the “Piggy Bank of Love”, which will travel through thousands of businesses to receive the charitable money that each businessperson, worker and labourer has saved.
Also to raise charity funds for the “Walking Together in Love” programme, the Fund for Children with Disabilities has launched a bookcase called “Sunflowers of Goodness and the Will to Live”, in which it has joined with photographer Nguyen A to introduce the famous book “That’s How They Lived” about Vietnamese people with disabilities who are shining examples, and the book “Nick Vujicic and His Days in Vietnam”. These books will be introduced to thousands of businesses, organisations and schools across the country to promote an extraordinary journey of determination by people with disabilities and to connect loving hearts.
Below are some photos from the exhibition about the activities and extraordinary determination of people with disabilities introduced by the organising committee to the business community:
