Giving legs to people everywhere

These are prosthetic legs made and fitted free of charge by Dr – wounded soldier Le Thanh Do (Hanoi) for children and poor people with disabilities…

Returning from the war with a disability rating of 2/4, the kind-hearted doctor Le Thanh Do (Centre for Consultancy and Support on Orthopaedic Devices for People with Disabilities) understands all the more the losses and disadvantages others suffer when their bodies are not whole. That is why he decided to open a workshop making prosthetic arms and legs free of charge for people with disabilities.

Sharing with a reporter: “I am a wounded soldier, and because I sympathise with poor people with disabilities who have no money, as long as I still have the strength, I will keep working to help them become more complete”.

People come to him from many places, with many different types of disability, but they all share the same wish: to have a new body part so that life can be more convenient.

To date, more than 600 cases, mainly poor children and people with disabilities, have received “Legs” from Dr Le Thanh Do.

These prosthetic legs from the kind-hearted doctor will be an invaluable encouragement to people with disabilities and their families.

He said that without the help of organisations at home and abroad, it would be difficult for him to help so many people with disabilities.
