Admiration for the hero who achieved a miracle with only half a body

With an impaired body, having only half a person from the waist up, American Kenny Easterday achieved admirable miracles and became a hero in everyone’s hearts.

Kenny Easterday was born with a rare condition called sacral agenesis, a disease that prevents the spinal bones from developing normally. When he was just 6 months old, he had to have his legs amputated and his shin bones used to form an incomplete spine.

This man has only half a body, but his determination and will to rise up can be said to surpass that of all non-disabled men.

From a young age, Kenny was offered prosthetic legs but he refused them and moved around on his hands on a skateboard. The young man who lives in West Virginia confided: “My father wanted to teach me how to walk on my hands”.

Kenny refused to wear prosthetic legs and learned to use his hands and a skateboard to move around.

In 1988, Kenny appeared in the moving documentary called “The Kid Brother”. The film records how the young man struggled to get used to life as a person with a disability in his early years.

Kenny became a documentary star from a very young age because of the will and determination of a true hero.

Kenny’s own father taught him how to learn to walk without prosthetic legs. Speaking in the documentary about his son’s life, he said: “I just told him to follow his mother, because she walks like a duck, so walk like her.”

In one scene Kenny pushed away his prosthetic legs and said: “If I considered myself a person with a disability, I would have worn those prosthetic legs”.

In 2010, the miraculous story of Kenny was broadcast again in a documentary called The Man With Half a Body – The man with half a body on a television channel in the USA.

Kenny’s story continued to move millions of viewers in 2010

Despite his impaired body, Kenny was loved by many girls. At 19, Kenny married a non-disabled woman named Sarah. At the time, Sarah affirmed that her fiancé, who had only half a body, was very attractive even though he had no body parts below his spleen. But after 2 years they divorced. Kenny then became engaged to Nicky, a 33-year-old woman who already had 2 children. Kenny always longed for the day he would become a father.

Speaking about the documentary on the American television channel, Kenny announced that his greatest dream was to have a child.

It was not because his impaired body had only half a torso that Kenny’s life became dull; on the contrary, it was extremely varied. Every day he still trained in sport, played billiards, bowling and swam… with his own hands.

Although he has only half a body, he can swim, climb and play billiards like non-disabled people.

A strong spirit and diligent physical training are the reason the “half-bodied hero” has such extraordinary health.

Kenny’s life is a shining example for many people, especially people with disabilities who keep rising up to overcome their fate.

Most people with a condition like Kenny’s die young. His doctor predicted he would only live to 21, but Kenny rose up and lived healthily until the age of 43. Kenny Easterday only died this February. The strong and resilient man who refused to give in to his impaired body became a true hero in everyone’s hearts.
