Vinh International Hospital screens 120 children with mobility disabilities

(Baonghean.vn) – On 12 September, Vinh International Hospital, in coordination with the Nghe An Children’s Protection Fund and Dr Le Duc To  – Director of the STO Phuong Dong Surgical and Orthopaedic Trauma Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City), organised screening examinations, medical records and free surgery referrals for children with mobility disabilities in 2016.

It is expected that 120 children aged 1 to 16 with mobility disabilities (extra fingers, fused fingers, contracted or clubbed hands and feet, bow legs and knock knees…) who have not yet had surgery or have had surgery (and wish to return for follow-up) will be screened.

Children with mobility disabilities are screened and referred for free surgery.

Earlier, in March 2016, the free surgery programme for children with mobility disabilities at Vinh International Hospital screened 200 children and referred 100 for surgery, of whom 44 have undergone surgery. Those who were examined and referred for surgery in the previous round will now have their records prepared for surgery in the next round.

The screening programme takes place over one day at Vinh International Hospital. After screening and medical records are completed, children with disabilities who are referred are expected to undergo free surgery in November 2016.
