Seeing the man with a disability holding a bundle of lottery tickets, the two “female thugs” moved in close and snatched them away, and detectives immediately sped up in pursuit from behind…
The incident happened at around 1pm on 28 October on Huynh Van Banh Street, Phu Nhuan District. At that time, a special task force of Phu Nhuan District police, led by Lieutenant Colonel Tran Vu Phuong Dung, spotted two people riding a motorbike with licence plate 51V3-2911 behaving suspiciously and quietly followed them.
With her short-cropped hair, many people mistook Huyen for a man
As predicted, just as they reached the area in front of house No. 129A in Ward 12, Phu Nhuan District, the two suspects sped up and snatched the bundle of lottery tickets (61 tickets) from Mr Nguyen Van Dinh (Mr Dinh is a person with a disability, sitting in a wheelchair), and the detectives immediately sped up to chase them.
After more than 1km of swerving and weaving, the two suspects were knocked off their motorbike by the detectives and arrested. At the investigation office, the two “female thugs” were identified as Phan Trinh Phuong Thao, 21, and Dinh Thi Ngoc Huyen, 21 – both living in District 1. Huyen is known to have a previous conviction for robbery and had only been released from prison on 30 April.
