On the second day of competition (20 October) at the Asian Para Games II, following a successful day for the Vietnamese team of athletes with disabilities, the athletes won three gold medals.

After the first day of competition, which was impressive with one world record in weightlifting and one Asian record in swimming, on the second day of the Games (20 October), Vietnamese athletes won three more gold medals.
At 11:45 on 20 October (Incheon time, South Korea), weightlifter Nguyen Binh An won the gold medal in the 54kg weightlifting category.
Competing against five opponents, but in high spirits, Nguyen Binh An – also the reigning Asian champion in this weight category – lifted 179kg on his second attempt. Binh An’s success was confirmed as breaking the Asian record.
Meanwhile, Dang Thi Linh Phuong won the silver medal in the under-50kg category, and Chau Hoang Tuyet Loan won the silver medal in the under-55kg category.
Thus, in the first two days of competition at the Asian Para Games II, the Vietnamese weightlifting team of athletes with disabilities completed its target, winning two gold medals.
That afternoon, on the swimming track, Vo Thanh Tung (29) excelled in winning the gold medal in the men’s 50m backstroke.
Leading right after the start, despite fierce pursuit by Zhang Chao (China), Thanh Tung was the first to finish, in 42.62 seconds, winning the gold medal convincingly.
Besides this gold medal, Vo Thanh Tung received a second, somewhat surprising piece of good news. After reviewing the men’s 200m freestyle, disability class S5 (on the evening of 19 October), the Organising Committee decided to strip the Myanmar athlete of his gold medal (for competing in the wrong disability class) and award it to Vo Thanh Tung. This was also the Vietnamese delegation’s fifth gold medal so far.
Thus, Vo Thanh Tung is the only member of the Vietnamese delegation to have won two gold medals.
On the same day, the Vietnamese delegation also won one silver medal (Nguyen Be Hau in the men’s javelin, disability class F55/F56) and two bronze medals in swimming (Vo Huynh Anh Khoa in the men’s 100m freestyle, disability class S9, and the 4x50m medley relay team).
Thus, as of 21:00 on 20 October, the Vietnamese team of athletes with disabilities had won four gold medals, seven silver medals and three bronze medals, provisionally ranking seventh in the overall standings.
